The history of Château Rayas begins in 1880 , when the former notary Albert Reynaud acquired plots of vines. His son, Louis Reynaud, continued the adventure by bottling the production directly for sale. In the 1930s , he bought Château des Tours , followed by Château de Fonsalette in 1945. Since 1997, Emmanuel Reynaud has managed the three estates, revitalizing the vineyard while respecting the Rayas spirit: very ripe Grenaches, vinified in whole harvests and aged in old tuns.
Château Rayas is one of the greatest French wine estates , recognized as the jewel of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Its characterful wines improve intensely with age, offering a unique taste experience.
